What initial insights or observations of the text do you have? *Overall how have this passage and this sermon encouraged and ministered you? *The Apostle Peter exhorts us: “abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” Read Romans 8:13 and Colossians 3:5 as well. What are “the passions of the flesh”? What does it mean for Christians to abstain from the passions of the flesh and to seek to put them to death? *What role can spiritual warfare can play in our battle against sin? How can an awareness that the Enemy actively opposes us and seeks to entice us to sin, serve us in our battle against sin? *How can being faithful to oppose our sin and put it to death serve our testimony and witness for Christ? *In what ways do we as Christians proclaim the excellencies of Christ?
