In All Things Remember the Lord 1 Peter 2:18-25 Jeremy Bell Main Point: Mindful of God, entrust yourself to Him while enduring unjust suffering; this is a gracious thing in God’s sight, whose Son suffered for your sin and set you free. I. We remember that Christ has set us free from sin II. We remember Jesus’ example in suffering III. We remember that God will set all things aright “I thank God that He has given me the love to seek to convert and to adopt as my son the enemy who killed my dear boys.” — Pastor Yang-won Son, 1948, South Korea Questions for Discussion/Application: *Consider taking time to read 1 Peter 2:18-25 out loud. What initial insights or observations of the text do you have? *Overall how have this passage and this sermon encouraged and ministered you? *Under Jeremy’s first point, he talked about how Jesus Christ, through the gospel, has set us free from both the penalty of sin and the ruling power of sin. How can this truth help us to respond to unjust suffering in a God-glorifying manner? *What are some subtle forms of retaliation we can perhaps at times engage in as Christians that are not godly and pleasing to the Lord that we need to be on guard against? *How can we simultaneously speak the truth and act for righteousness (see point #3), and entrust ourselves to God? What does it look like for us to do that? *How does remembering that God will set things aright (point #3) help us to endure suffering in a Christ-like manner today? *Consider taking time to pray for God to help us to endure suffering in a Christ-like way, entrusting ourselves to God. *Consider also praying for the persecuted church around the world.
