There Is A Redeemer Ruth 3 Jeremy Bell Application: 1. God’s faithfulness enables us to take humble risks for His glory “We may be frankly bewildered at things that happen to us, but God knows exactly what He is doing, and what He is after, in His handling of our affairs. Always, and in everything, He is wise; we shall see that hereafter, even where we never saw it here.” — JI Packer 2. We have a better redeemer than Boaz Questions for Discussion/Application: *Consider taking time to read Ruth 3 out loud. Overall how has this passage and this sermon encouraged and ministered you? *How do we see God’s faithfulness to Naomi in this passage? To Ruth? *It was an expression of Ruth’s faith in Naomi’s God who was now her God, in keeping with Israel’s customs, to obey Naomi’s word and do all that she did in chapter 3. Ruth obeyed Naomi’s word (verse 6) in spite of not knowing how things would turn out. How is her faith in God in this situation worthy of our emulation? *Re-read the J.I. Packer quote above. How does this truth encourage you in the challenging circumstances and trials you may be facing? *Boaz was Ruth’s kinsman-redeemer. In what ways does his life and example point to the greater Redeemer who is Christ Himself? How is Jesus a better Redeemer than Boaz? *How does the truth that you have a better Redeemer than Boaz encourage and strengthen you? *Consider taking time to pray, asking God to help us to be people of obedient faith who entrust ourselves in all circumstances to our faithful Redeemer Jesus Christ.
