Follow Me Luke 9:18-23 Pat Tedeschi Sermon Theme: WHO we follow, HOW we follow, and WHERE we follow is foundational to our discipleship and to Christ’s global mission. I. Who We Follow II. How We Follow III. Where We Follow Questions for Discussion/Application: *Consider taking time to read Luke 9:18-23 out loud. What initial insights or observations of the text do you have? *Under his first point, Pat highlighted the fact that the One we follow is a Crucified Savior. Christ Jesus came to deal with our greatest problem — our sin. Just take a few moments and meditate as a group on the fact that Christ has taken care of our greatest problem. How ought this truth to impact our daily lives? He can this reality that Christ has taken care of our greatest problem give us perspective in the midst of other lesser problems we may face in our lives? *Under his second point, Pat invited us to consider the call of Christ, to take up one’s cross an follow Jesus. What does it look like practically for us to do that in every aspect of life — the home, the church, the workplace, the community? What does it look like to take up your cross as a husband, a wife, a parent, a grandparent, a neighbor, a coworker etc…? *Under his third point, Pat pointed out where Christ was going — He was going to the cross. He then graciously challenged us to consider, are we willing to follow Christ and proclaim Christ, even if it results in suffering? While any suffering in our context is not easily compared with the first century, church–we do well to consider, what sacrifices are we willing to make in order to proclaim Christ to friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers etc…Who might you consider bringing to the upcoming Bridge Course? Perhaps each person in the group could give an “evangelism update” and share how they are seeking to reach out to the lost around them.
