This should take about ten minutes. *In reading the SoF, is there anything that immediately stands out to you or encourages you that you want to share with the group? *Why does growing in our understanding of the doctrine of God matter? What can be the consequences in a person’s life, or in a church of a failure to see doctrine, and the scriptural doctrine of God, as worthy of our time, study, and meditation?? Take a few moments to discuss this as a group. *Read out loud the headings in the Sermon Recap listing certain attributes of God. A. God’s providence is his almighty and ever present power, whereby, as with his hand, he still upholds heaven and earth and all creatures, and so governs them that leaf and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and barren years, food and drink, health and sickness, riches and poverty, indeed, all things, come to us not by chance but by his fatherly hand. — Q.27 (Heidelberg Catechism) *How can the truth declared in this catechism answer strengthen us and help us, particularly when we face difficult times? *Consider taking time to pray, asking God to help us to be faithful to meditate on His glorious attributes and as a result to love Him, trust Him and obey Him more.
